Medical Assistant (Full-Time)
Sleep Health MD is looking for a professional, motivated, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. This is a full-time position working closely with providers and patients to ensure quality care and smooth clinic operations.
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant performs a variety of patient-related tasks: greeting and directing patients, maintaining records, and serving as a liaison between the patient and the medical team. This position requires sound decision-making, multitasking, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient service in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Act as liaison between patients and medical support staff
- Update and file patient medical records; verify and update demographics
- Take medical histories and vitals
- Process prescriptions, dispense samples, and run PAR reports
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment, stock supplies
- Check EMR for appointments and maintain timely documentation
- Assist with peer-to-peer (P2P) scheduling and provider communication
- Train new MAs and support team collaboration
- Manage voicemails, inbox tasks, and interdepartmental questions
- Educate patients and anticipate workflow questions
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and respond calmly to emergencies
- Adapt to new software and continuous process improvements

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Busy, fast-paced setting requiring multitasking
- Keyboarding and mouse use up to 8 hours/day
- Standing, moving, or sitting for extended periods
- Lifting up to 40 lbs
Schedule & Travel
- Full-time position, Monday–Friday between 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Overtime may be required, including some Saturdays
- Travel required between Santa Cruz, Monterey, and South Bay locations
Qualifications
- Completion of Medical Assistant course (Certificate or Diploma)
- CPR certification required
- Computer and internet savvy with Office 365 and EMR navigation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple inquiries and prioritize tasks
